The first 3 or 4 times you put your dog in the Pooch Pack, he/she will probably think you are trying to kill him!  He doesn't know what to expect at first, but as you use it, he will not be afraid at all.

First - remember that when your dog's feet touch the pack, it is an automatic reaction to pull them up.  Therefore, it is wise to have your partner in front of you to grab the dog's legs and pull them on through. The reaction is always there.  Of course, the front legs will not give you a problem.  If the straps are adjusted and you have the pack on, have both sides unzipped.  Once the hind legs and the front legs are in, zip both sides.  If your dog has a lot of hair, lean him over to one side then zip the opposite side  Reverse the procedure, zip, and you're ready to go!

While there is a snap to hook the dog's collar, we find it unnecessary.  Once the dog is "in", he's not going anywhere!!!

Another way to acquaint your dog with the pouch: unzip both sides and lay it down on a table.  Stand your dog in the holes, then gradually "ooch" it up (like you used to do your children's underpants).  Flop the back of the pouch over the dog, zip up, put your hand under the belly of the dog and pick him up, put the pack on the one who is going to carry the dog, buckle it up and you're ready to go.

The straps can be adjusted to fit you on the front or the back.
